Memorial in the former concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, Camp Section BIIe. It is the first memorial to the genocide of Sinti and Roma at the historic site and was inaugurated in 1973 on the initiative of Vinzenz Rose (1908-1996) and the German Sinti Association. The memorial ensemble is made of bricks that were the remains of the former prisoner blocks in this area of the camp.

Vinzenz Rose financed the memorial with private funds. The dedication text reads: ‘Memorial / to the Sinti of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Many thousands of Sinti—men, women and children, the imprisoned and tortured victims of German fascism—were horribly tortured, gassed and murdered here in this Birkenau concentration camp. / Donated by the Association of Sinti of Germany 1973 / V. Rose, O. Bamberger’.
