With the introduction of the ‘National Service for the Renewal of Serbia’, an increasing number of Roma in German-occupied Serbia are being conscripted into at least four, in most cases six months of labour service. Hundreds of them are forced to work in the copper mines at Bor, where until 1944, a large camp complex exists. Several Roma who attempt to escape are subject to even harsher working conditions in penal camps within the Bor camp complex.
