In the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp (German-annexed Poland), a prolonged Blocksperre [block lockdown] is ordered for the first time for all camp sections. All prisoners are forbidden to leave their quarters. The reason for the camp lockdown is the arrival of the first deportation trains carrying Jews from Hungary, who are murdered in the gas chambers immediately after their arrival. Checks are carried out in camp section BIIe. There is no evidence that the murder of the Sinti and Roma prisoners held there was planned on that day.
