On the initiative of Alain Daumas, President of the Union Française des Associations de Tsiganes, a memorial is unveiled on the anniversary of a massacre committed in Saint-Sixte, then in German-occupied France. It commemorates the fourteen members of the Landauer, Vaise and Wanderstein families–eleven of whom were children–who were shot on 23 June 1944 by soldiers of the SS Division ‘Das Reich’.
