1942/06/28 – Unternehmen Blau

Under the code name ‘Operation Blue’ [‘Unternehmen Blau’] or ‘Case Blue’ [‘Fall Blau’], the Wehrmacht’s summer offensive begins in the southern section of the German Eastern Front with advances towards the Volga region and the North Caucasus (Soviet Union). By the end of February 1943, hundreds of Roma were murdered by German units in these areas.
