In Romania, the deportation to Transnistria of Roma categorised by the gendarmerie as ‘țiganii nenomazi’ (‘non-nomadic Gypsies’) begins. Transfers takes place by train. The last train arrives in the Oceacov county on 20 September 1942. About 14,000 deportees are counted there in October 1942. The deportees are then redistributed in the counties of Oceacov and Berezovca where they have to remain until February–March 1944. The measure leads to numerous complaints to the Romanian authorities to stop the deportations or order the repatriation of the deportees.
